From happy accident to complex chemistry, human beings have a long and storied relationship with alcoholic beverages. Wars are waged, technologies innovated, and so much more...all in the name of a good drink! Explore the deep history of of this tangled connection, from myths to sophisticated science, in Turtle Bay Exploration Park’s newest exhibition, Last Call: An Intoxicating History of Alcohol, opening February 16, 2019.
Last Call was developed in-house by Turtle Bay Exploration Park curators and was inspired by Redding’s place as a fermenting and brewing hub in the larger craft beverage revolution. The exhibition will look at how the invention of alcohol has affected civilization—from laws, social movements, fashion, technologies and more.
There will be many interactive elements within the Last Call exhibition, including glass-to-drink and liquor ingredient matching stations and docent led field sobriety tests, utilizing alcohol impairment goggles. There will also be three stations for guests to vote for their favorite fermented, brewed and distilled beverages, which will later become a part of the exhibition using WordCloud technology.
Last Call: An Intoxicating History of Alcohol is presented by Moore & Bogener, Inc. with additional support provided by Fall River Brewing Company and Denny Bar Company. The exhibition will be on display within the Art Gallery at Turtle Bay Exploration Park Museum, February 16, 2019 through May 12, 2019. Admission to this exhibition is free for members and included with Park admission.
