Range: Western British Columbia and Southern Alaska, through Washington and Oregon, to Northern California and Mexico, east to Montana, Wyoming and Nevada.
Habitat: Marshes, streams, meadows, woodlands, and forests.
Diet: Bees, beetles, ants, and other insects
Lifespan: 8 to 12 years.
Fun Facts
Western Toad’s breeding period takes place from February to April but can extend all the way to July.
Baby Western Toads are called tadpoles!
The Western Toad defends itself from predators by secreting an irritating fluid from glands in their backs and the back of their eyes.
