New Animal Recovery Center

New Animal Recovery Center

Turtle Bay Exploration Park is thrilled to announce plans to build a new state-of-the-art Animal Recovery Center (ARC) inside Wildlife Woods at Turtle Bay Exploration Park in Redding, California, thanks to a generous $200,000 donation from Senator Maurice and Marianne Johannessen.

This multi-use care facility will provide the much needed space for animals that need periodic breaks from their public habitats. The ARC will also offer guests the opportunity to experience young animals in a nursery room environment, along with offering a designated area for local veterinarians to perform treatments onsite. The new ARC is expected to improve the organization’s acclimation process for a growing variety of animal species during their required quarantine period.

CEO Michael Warren: “We feel extremely fortunate to have benefactors like Maurice and Marianne Johannessen supporting Turtle Bay and our animal department. All of our animals are non-releasable and require human care and protection. As a result of the Johannessen’s generosity, our staff will now have a state-of-the-art recovery center to better serve these animals for years to come.”

Construction on the new facility will start in Spring of 2018 and completion is expected in 6-8 months. Updates will be posted online at www.turtlebay.org.
