Turtle Bay Exploration Park is an interdisciplinary institution that caters to folks of all ages, interests, and walks of life. As such, we strive to offer a variety of exhibits highlighting art, science, history, and more within the Museum, Mill Building, and elsewhere throughout the Park. We are especially dedicated to hosting interactive STEAM exhibitions like Magnificent Me!
Our bodies are marvelous machines, and this exhibition offers interactive opportunities to explore the blood, guts, bones, brains, senses, and mechanics that make us – us! You can pump a heart, fool your senses, make a skeleton dance, see what’s inside you, make body noises, and more! Hands-on stations answer common questions about how our bodies work by using modern research, medical science, and a variety of medical technologies.
Magnificent Me provides a great opportunity for grown-ups to refresh their memories of grade school and high school biology, but perhaps more importantly, it is a wonderful learning opportunity for students of all ages to explore the structures and processes of everything from molecules to organisms, the inheritance and variation of traits, and the many links between engineering, technology, science, and society. We’re looking forward to hosting many school field trips for this exhibition as it touches on Next Generation Science Standards from kindergarten through 12th grade!
Magnificent Me was created by The Discovery Network, a statewide program of the Museum of Discovery in Arkansas initiated in 2006 with funding from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, whose goal is to make hands-on, interactive STEAM learning more accessible to school children and their families. We are thrilled to share their mission with our local community! We especially loved working with the Museum of Discovery to bring Mystery of the Mayan Medallion to the museum in the Fall of 2019. We look forward to working with them again on Magnificent Me!
