Opening Night: Goose Bumps! The Science of Fear

Opening Night: Goose Bumps! The Science of Fear

Sponsors, community members and staff gathered last Thursday, May 30, 2019 for the opening of Turtle Bay Exploration Park’s newest exhibition, Goose Bumps! The Science of Fear.

Goose Bumps! was developed by the California Science Center and examines the physiological, neurobiological and sociological aspects of fear through a variety of engaging interactive activities. Visitors can explore the facial expressions of fear and other emotions; play the “Freeze Game,” an immersive interactive video installation where you learn how animals survive in their natural environments; and meet Mr. Goose Bumps, a larger than life character that illustrates how the body and brain work together to respond to danger.

During the opening ceremony, we honored the exhibition’s Presenting sponsors, Susan & Kendell Seamans, as well as Major Support sponsors, U.S. Bank and Dennis & Sherrill Bambauer. Additional support for Goose Bumps! is provided by Best Western Plus Hilltop Inn/ C.R. Gibbs American Grille, Dutch Bros. Coffee - The Resner Family, and The Blankenberg Family - Shasta Pathology Associates.

We also honored sponsors of many other Turtle Bay programs, including Charter Communications, Presenting Sponsor of Maker Wednesdays, an educational and interactive Summer program; Hemsted’s Moving & Storage, who made a five-year pledge to sponsor Turtle Bay’s Walk on the Wild Side Animal Show; The Dhanuka Family, for their support of the “Turtle Bay For All” access program, helping those who utilize EBT cards gain discounted admission to the Museum; Wood’s Pest Control, for sponsoring our Insects and Reptiles Exhibits; Rick & Kandi Barnett, for sponsoring the Wings of Summer Butterfly House; and Dignity Health North State, the sponsors for our year-round “Dam To Bridge” exhibit, which provides a fascinating look into our local history and ingenuity.

We also had the privilege of welcoming four new “Pathfinders” to our Major Donor Wall:

1.     Aaron Moore and Collin Bogener, Moore & Bogener, Inc.

2.     Irene, Jason, Owen, and Caroline Salter

3.     Matt, Anna, Gabriella, and Malea Moseley
