Disco Wonderland Auction Event Recap
Disco Wonderland Auction Event Recap
March 22, 2023
Another Turtle Bay Auction is in the books! This past weekend, the community gathered at the Redding Civic Auditorium with bright lights, delicious food and drink, and of course, one-of-a-kind auction items. From the flashy costumes and upbeat music to the overwhelming support during our silent and live auctions, we could not have dreamt of a better DISCO Wonderland!
This year’s theme brought us back to the 70’s with bright dresses, bedazzled trousers, and platform shoes. Our attendees enjoyed grooving to Donna Summers, Earth, Wind & Fire, and ABBA music while enjoying charcuterie and delectable appetizers from Mosaic Restaurant. We want to say a huge thank you to the Shasta Roller Derby girls for creating a groovy atmosphere and the U-Prep Dance team for providing entertainment for all!
In true Turtle Bay fashion, we had several of our animal ambassadors at the event. Gucci, Cricket, Mojave, and many others greeted guests as they entered the venue. Attendees got to see firsthand where their donations were headed… right back to our animals at the Park! All proceeds from the Auction support the museum exhibitions, education programs, and more. We also had 36 generous donors contribute to our “Fund-A’Need".” This year’s project is the Horticulture Classroom!
We had over 160 local items and experiences in our silent and live auction items this year. One of which was created during the event! Former Walt Disney and 20th Century Fox Studios artist, Gary Thomas, painted a beautiful scene of the Sundial Bridge for our live auction! Silent auction bidding was online and in-person this year, with 712 registered bidders!
Of course, this event would not have been possible without Turtle Bay staff members from each department coming together to plan, coordinate, and even construct the disco decor throughout the venue! Thanks to the generosity of our community, we are excited to announce that we met our fundraising goal! We are extremely grateful for all of the support and excited to keep making Turtle Bay a Wonder-full place for all to visit.
