Turtle Bay offers guests a unique opportunity to participate in hands-on learning with Maker Wednesdays, a series of special events led by educators and volunteers.
Maker Wednesdays encourage guests to learn by creating and making, with new activities and topics with each program. Additionally the “Maker” movement aims to foster creativity, critical thinking and build confidence with children, as they develop innovative skills.
“Maker Wednesdays are a great opportunity for people to try new things, develop 21st century life skills, and for families to come together and create,” says Laurinda Willard, Education & Programs Manager. “Each program features a single activity with endless possibilities for individuals to create their own experience.”
Turtle Bay’s Maker Wednesday events are included with paid Park admission and always FREE for members. Below are a few upcoming programs, held in Turtle Bay Exploration Park Museum:
Maker Wednesday: Tiny Sculptures
Wednesday, July 24, 2019 • 1pm – 3pm
Let your creativity and curiosity thrive as we build, collaborate, learn and make together! The theme for Wednesday, July 24 is Tiny Sculptures. Learn how you can you draw in 3D while creating a mini masterpiece with our 3D doodle pens. Guests can also fashion a bracelet, build an action figure, or make a unique piece of art. Let your creativity and curiosity thrive as we build, collaborate, learn and make together! The theme for Wednesday, July 31 is Hovercrafts. Guests of all ages can create hovercrafts from recycled materials and fly them in our wind tube! Click here to learn more!
