A Spirited Night: Last Call Reception Event

Thank you to all who came out to our special reception for the opening of Turtle Bay Exploration Park’s newest exhibition, Last Call: An Intoxicating History of Alcohol, held February 22. This special event gave guests an exclusive look at the exhibition, which tells the storied history and evolution of beer, wine and spirits.

Last Call was developed in-house by Turtle Bay Exploration Park curators and was inspired by Redding’s place as a fermenting and brewing hub in the larger craft beverage revolution, showcasing how the invention of alcohol has affected civilization—from laws, social movements, fashion, technologies and more.

Guests enjoyed great tasting opportunities, including the release of “Last Call IPA”, a bold citrusy India Pale Ale by Fall River Brewing Company, as well as spirits and cocktails by Denny Bar Company Distillery.

Attendees participated in field sobriety tests administered by Jacob Provencio of Redding Police Department while wearing Fatal Vision® alcohol impairment goggles. Both Officer Provencio and A Sobering Choice Coalition aided in the development of exhibition content and interactives, while Officer Provencio also facilitated docent training on alcohol impairment and the dangers of driving under the influence.

Last Call: An Intoxicating History of Alcohol is presented by Moore & Bogener, Inc. with additional support provided by Fall River Brewing Company and Denny Bar Company Distillery. A special thank you also goes out to Sierra Nevada Brewing Company and Moseley Family Cellars, for loaning vital equipment, ephemera and artifacts!

The exhibition will be on display through May 12, 2019 within the Art Gallery at Turtle Bay Exploration Park Museum. Admission to this exhibition is free for members and included with Park admission.
