Forest Adventure Playground NOW OPEN!
Forest Adventure Playground
Community members, donors and staff gathered this morning to celebrate the opening of Turtle Bay’s Forest Adventure Playground, a new big-kids play area located within Paul Bunyan’s Forest Camp. This playground is the most recent inclusion from the Park’s Forestry Forward Project and is complimented by Babe’s Corral, a playground for children ages 0-5, as well as the Mill Building.
Turtle Bay would like to thank many major funders that made the completion of this project possible, including The California Cultural and Historical Endowment, The KBK Foundation, The Ben B. Cheney Foundation, Shasta Regional Community Foundation’s McConnell Grant, and First 5 Shasta, who sponsored Babe’s Corral Playground.
Turtle Bay’s Forest Adventure playground is designed to be a fun and adventurous experience for older children (and adults!) that mimics the forestry experience. Guests can climb a large tower and for a bird’s eye view of the Park, similar to one shared from fire lookouts and by loggers who scale trees; or slide down a long and low zip line, reminiscent of logging arch pulleys. The playground also features adult sized swings, a large rock wall, super slide and more. Access to the Forest Adventure Playground is free for members and included with Park admission.
The Forest Adventure Playground is an incredible addition to Paul Bunyan’s Forest Camp and we hope to continue to enhance the space in the future, with visions of adding more climbing towers connected by rope bridges, so guests can travel from tower to tower! Turtle Bay is always striving to enhance the Park and serve our community, allowing families to learn through play.
