Babe's Corral Opening
Babe's Corral Opening
Friday, March 2, 2018 - Babe's Corral is officially OPEN and ready for action, thanks to the generous support from First 5 Shasta and their ongoing support for this newest forest-themed playground attraction for our youngest guests. Today's ribbon cutting ceremony celebrated that partnership and both organizations look forward to having a greater impact on those served in Shasta County.
Babe’s Corral includes a variety of play structures designed for young children ages 0-5, all of which are completely fenced to divide this safe area for little ones from the larger Forest Camp where older children are at play. Babe’s Corral addresses a broad spectrum of play needs through opportunities for fantasy and socio-cooperative play, and offers parents a wonderful chance to engage fully with their children in a safe and secure environment.
The new play area is an ideal place to hold educational programming aimed at our youngest visitors such as our Little Explorers and Charlie Rabbit program participants. The forest-themed play structures in Babe’s Corral includes a balance log, ADA accessible nest swing, log tunnel, Osprey nest with slide, “Babe the Blue Ox” themed climber, par course designed to support muscle growth and confidence, rambling flume, and talk tube.
In addition, paths accessing all of the play areas have been redesigned to improve wheelchair and stroller access. Like the adjacent Stimpel Creek, Babe’s Corral has been designed to combine the history of our region with the newest in play science and structures designed for young children.
The Babe’s Corral play area addresses First 5 Shasta’s Pathway Goal 3: Supported and Supportive Families – expanding activities that help parents cultivate their children’s interest in learning.
As a long-time partner and supporter of Turtle Bay’s programming designed for children ages 0-5 and their families, First 5 Shasta is an ideal partner in this project.
